Southern AAA Ringette 2013-2014 Coaches Announced


@SouthernAAA tweeted today about the coaches for the 2013-14 Southern AAA ringette team.

What do they all have in common, other than a love for ringette?  They've all been on Team Canada!

From the Southern Region Ringette website - Dec. 18, 2012:

Christina Moores, Head Coach: Christina grew up playing ringette in the Mississauga Ringette Association. She played for Southern AAA in 2001-02, and was a member of Team Ontario at the 2003 Canada Winter Games, where she was accorded the honour of being Ontario's flag-bearer for the opening ceremonies. She played for 8 years as a member of the Cambridge Turbos of the NRL, during which period the team won several national championships and the World Club Team championship. Christina was named to Team Canada for the 2010 World Ringette Championships. Christina has coached at the AA level in Cambridge and Mississauga and is presently head coach of the Mississauga U14AA team. Christina has degrees in Kinesiology and Physiotherapy and works as a physiotherapist.

Meghan Pittaway, Assistant Coach: Meghan spent most of her ringette career playing in Cambridge, however also played for Mississauga, Waterloo and Hamilton growing up. She played for Southern AAA in the 2001-02, 2003-04, and 2005-06 seasons, and for Team Ontario at the 2007 Canada Winter Games. She is in her sixth season of goaltending for the Cambridge Turbos of the NRL. Among other recognitions, Meghan was chosen top goaltender in the 2008 World Club Championships and top NRL goalie in the 2008-09 and 2010-11 season. She played for Team Canada in the 2010 World Ringette Championships. Meghan has coached AA in Cambridge, conducts ringette goaltending clinics in southern Ontario and is the goaltending coach for the U19 Canada East team. She has a degree in Physical Education and is training to be a firefighter.

Colette Craig, Assistant Coach: Colette grew up playing ringette in Manitoba at the AA and AAA level, and medaled 6 times for Manitoba at the Canadian Ringette Championships, with two all-star selections. She played in the first World Ringette Championships in 1989. Colette has completed 6 marathons, including the Boston Marathon. She has coached ringette in Manitoba, Alberta, and Ontario and is head coach of the Richmond Hill U19AA team this season. Colette works as an energy market analyst for the National Energy Board.

Beth Hurren, Assistant Coach: Beth grew up playing ringette in Pickering and Oshawa, but also played for teams in Scarborough, Waterloo, and Sudbury.  She competed in the 1996 and 1998 Ontario Winter Games for Central. Presently captain of the Richmond Hill Lightning of the NRL, Beth was chosen best defenseman in the NRL in 2011-12 and League MVP in 2010-11 and was named the Ontario Ringette Association player of the year in 2008. She is 3-time member of Team Canada (2004, 2007 and 2010) and was chosen a first-team all-star at the 2010 World Ringette Championships and the 2012 World Club Team Championships. Beth has several years experience coaching U16AA and U19AA. Beth is a Registered Massage Therapist.
