And from his coach ..."Rugby's a fall semester sport, and I've heard this story many times over in my years as a coach--I do way better in the fall when I have to organize my time than in the winter when I don't have that same sort of stress, to make sure I'm where I'm supposed to be at the right time. But sport is a great stress reliever, when I go to the rugby field, the rest of my life falls away. It doesn't matter what the rest of the day's been like, it just takes over--I think that's a huge safety valve in people's lives, students and the coaches too."
Further comments by the rugby coach, Jim Atkinson, in Employers look for graduates who have participated in sports,
"being a 90+ student who doesn't have a life just doesn't cut it in the real world.
Having someone who's able to organize their time, be an effective student -- effective enough to get a decent degree, but also involve themselves in the life of the university, and represent the university on the athletics field;
That's just a tremendous plus, because that's what employers are looking for, a rounded person..."
My thoughts exactly!
