Over the holidays (29 Dec 2010 to 2 Jan 2011), the University of Western Ontario hosted the ringette University Challenge Cup (UCC). Fourteen teams attended from coast to coast. The tournament consisted of two tiers of play.
University of Calgary won Tier 1 (see all Tier 1 scores) for the 5th straight year (UCC history), defeating their Calgary crosstown rivals Mount Royal University. University of Alberta defeated Dalhousie for the bronze.
Tournament hosts University of Western Ontario defeated a composite Waterloo/Wilfred-Laurier team to win Tier 2 (see all Tier 2 scores) for the 4th straight year. University of Guelph won bronze, defeating Carleton.
As of the fall of 2010, Ringette at UWO is now a varsity sport - congratulations to them for this accomplishment also!
