Support the Thrive Centre at the University of Calgary

The Thrive Centre is the University of Calgary's free fitness centre for cancer patients, offering safe and effective exercise programs and facilities for all cancer survivors.

Run by students, the Thrive Centre is dependent on community donations The Thrive Centre is unique to Calgary.  Their goal is to empower and improve the quality of life of people affected by cancer.

The Thrive Centre's annual walk/run fundraiser Stride for Thrive is this weekend, on September 22.  It's not too late to register or donate.

And this year, Aegent Energy Advisors and the Running Injury Clinic are both donating $10 for every participant that raises over $50.

All proceeds from Stride for Thrive will go towards improving Thrive Centre programming, services and equipment such as: 

Services
  • Funding for group exercises classes for cancer patients and survivors 
  • Funding support for additional staff members 
  • Funding to provide workshops for parents whose children are entering the paediatric oncology exercise program
  • Funding to offer subsidized parking for participants
  • Funding to support volunteer training sessions 
Equipment 
  • Heart Rate monitors 
  • Exercise equipment including Polar watches
  • Therabands and exercise balls 
  • Children's exercise equipment
