"Not Your Granny's Ringette Any More" says the Globe and Mail - U19 World Ringette Championships

On the front page of today's Sports section, the Globe and Mail has an article on ringette, titled "Not Your Granny's Ringette Any More" (or see jpg images below).

With the U19 World Ringette Championships coming up later this week and 2013 being the 50th anniversary of ringette, it's great for ringette to get this exposure.

The next 10 days are certainly busy ringette days.  Not mentioned in the article is that the University Challenge Cup is also being held Jan. 2-6 in North Bay.

A lot of folks still think of 'gym ringette' when they hear 'ringette'.  As the article says, "It's every bit as physical as a women's hockey game, if not more". Take a look at this Ringette Canada YouTube Video.

Beth Hurren, quoted in the article, is a totally awesome player and coach.  Affectionately known by the players she's played with and coached as Bubba, she's previously been interviewed by Rogers TV, and honoured by her home association Richmond Hill.

Butter Chicken Lasagna - Recipe to Riches

Out of curiosity, we tried the winning Butter Chicken Lasagna from Recipe to Riches.  Quite tasty and definitely worth trying.

Congratulations Rick Matharu @rickmatharu for winning Season 2 of Recipe to Riches and the $250,000 prize.

Butter Chicken Lasagna is a successful fusion of Indian meets Italian.  Only in Toronto!  You can get the Butter Chicken Lasagna recipe from the Food Network.

As you can see from the product pic above, Butter Chicken Lasagna is in the President's Choice line.  If you're looking for it in a Loblaw store, they're typically at the end of one of the open freezers, where store specials are located, along with other Recipe to Riches finalists.  Butter Chicken Lasagna's purple package certainly stands out.

Nutritional value of Butter Chicken Lasagna is available on the President's Choice website.  With 20 g of fat and 0.5 g of trans, you're not going to want to eat this too often.

Perhaps President's Choice will come up with a "Blue Menu" version of Butter Chicken Lasagna.
